Faculty Position in the Department of Taiwan Culture, Languages and Literature at National Taiwan Normal University, Taiwan

I. Position Opening: Full-time (or Project) Assistant Professor or above.
II. Position starting date is expected to begin on February 1 or August 1, 2026.
III. Research Expertise: Applicants should hold a doctoral degree with research expertise in Taiwan indigenous culture, languages and literature. In addition, the ideal candidate should be able to support our university’s indigenous education courses for teacher training program. The ability to conduct courses entirely in English (EMI) and communicate effectively in Taiwan’s national languages is highly preferred.
IV. Qualifications:
- Applicants should have a doctoral degree and language proficiency of the intermediate level (or above) of the Indigenous Language Proficiency Certification.
- Applicants (novice teachers* with a doctoral degree excluded) should meet at least one of the following criteria:
(1) Publication of at least 2 articles within the past 3 years in journals indexed in SCI, SSCI, TSSCI, EI, A&HCI, THCI (formerly THCI Core before 2016) or SCOPUS, as the first or corresponding author.
(2) Acquisition of at least 2 research grants from the National Science and Technology Council (previously Ministry of Science and Technology) within the past 3 years.
(3) Publication of at least 1 book or monograph within the past 3 years. Peer review reports and letter of acceptance should be provided.
(4) Exceptional performance in scholarship. Proof of achievement should be provided.
- The above-mentioned journal articles and research grants from the National Science and Technology Council may offset one another (for example, 1 SSCI article and 1 NSTC research grant would fulfill the criteria).
- Novice teachers refer to those who obtained their doctoral degree no more than 2 years prior to the date of the job posting announcement (for male applicants, this 2 year period excludes the mandatory military service period).
- If the applicant’s highest academic qualifications have been granted by NTNU, the applicant must have at least 2 years of additional experience in research, professional occupations or other positions relevant to the department after graduation.
- The time periods above (eg “past 3 years”) are calculated according to the date of the job posting announcement. Journal publications may be calculated according to the time of article acceptance or publication.

- Proof of degree and relevant experience (including photocopy of the doctoral degree diploma, academic transcript, teacher certificate, and letter of appointment if applicable) (For applicants who have a degree from overseas and have no teacher certificate in Taiwan, the applicants’ doctoral degree diploma and their academic transcript must be verified by ROC embassies or representative offices stationed abroad).
- Certificate of the intermediate level (or above) of the Indigenous Language Proficiency Certification.
- A list of publications and research grants.
- Relevant publications within the past 5 years (abstracts should be included; novice teachers can submit their doctoral dissertations to meet the qualification criteria).
- Proposed syllabuses (2-4 courses, not limited to existing courses of the Department).
- Other documents that may be favorable for the review (e.g., proof of qualifications, language proficiency, honors and other supporting documents).

VIII. Note:
- Short-listed candidates will be invited for in-person or online interviews.
- Successful candidates, after appointed, must pass an assessment after serving in NTNU for 3 full years (i.e., the 7th semester) and must complete their promotion within 6 years.
- According to regulations, this recruitment is only finalized after the allocation of teaching positions is officially approved by NTNU.
