Graduate Student Workshop

Q1. Do I need to have a completed research paper to present at the Graduate Student Workshop?
No. You only need a relatively complete research framework, process, and preliminary results. A finished research paper is not required for presentation.
Q2. Can my discussant be a junior student or someone from another department/university?
Junior students may serve as discussants, but we prioritize department faculty and students. If your research area is highly specialized and requires an external discussant, please obtain department approval in advance.
Q3. If I have completed presenting my research at the Graduate Student Workshop, do I still need to fulfill the the graduation requirements for formal paper presentations or publications?
Yes. The Graduate Student Workshop is an informal presentation platform, and cannot be used to fulfill the graduation requirements for formal paper presentations or publications.”
Q4. Following up on the previous point, can I present the same content later at an external academic conference?
Yes. The Graduate Student Workshop is an internal opportunity for practice and feedback; it is not considered a formal external presentation or publication, so there are no issues with “double submission.”
Q5. If I have already fulfilled my graduation requirement for formal paper presentations or publications, do I still need to present at the Workshop?
Yes. Presenting at the Graduate Student Workshop is a specific requirement within the Academic Activity Participation regulations, regardless of other presentations or publications.
Q6. Can I slightly modify my topic on the day of presentation?
Minor modifications to the title are acceptable, but please inform the department office beforehand. If you wish to change to a completely different subject, you must seek prior approval from the department office.
Q7. If I serve as both a presenter and a discussant in the same session, how many records do I earn?
The presenter role is verified in the presentation section. Serving as a discussant for the Graduate Student Workshop is credited as an equivalent to attending two academic activities.
Q8. What if I have an emergency and cannot attend my scheduled presentation?
The workshop requires in-perspm attendance. If you have registered but are unable to attend, please notify the department by email as early as possible to cancel the presentation. You may may then submit a new application in the following semester.
